Description

The primary function of this role is to provide general clerical, secretarial, and administrative support for the department of Communication and the department of History, Politics, & Philosophy. This is a 10 month/year, 32 hour/week position (August 1 - May 31).

Essential Job Functions:
Perform administrative assistant duties that include:



  1. Routine support of department chairs and faculty (full-time & adjunct)
  2. Process student timesheets and serve as Kronos supervisor for student workers
  3. Manage invoices for TravelBank (Visa) sign-offs
  4. Collect Visa receipts, scan, assign budget code and business purpose to purchasing card reports
  5. Create journal entries for needed budgetary transfers and manage purchase order requests
  6. Arrange departmental meetings and reserve meeting space
  7. Manage the use of the Hooper Conference Room
  8. Support the course offering scheduling process
  9. Support departmental events such as lectures, faculty interview processes, dinners for students (especially at commencement time), order student awards, support new student orientations (NSO), etc.
  10. Assist with events hosted by the Tennessee High School Press Association
  11. Manage daily duties such as answering phone calls, mail pick-up and distribution supporting student needs related to the departments, etc.
  12. Participate as a team player for college level initiatives such as Giving Day
  13. Support campus-wide initiatives including activities related to the strategic plan, Lipscomb Rising 2030
  14. Align with and affirm the elements of Lipscomb University's core values, Centering Core, and Heritage statements


Experience & Attributes



  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point desired
