Summary
MSOE invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director of University Advancement Marketing to join our University Advancement team. The Assistant Director of University Advancement Marketing provides marketing communications support in developing and implementing communications, campaigns, and marketing materials that support the Office of University Advancement's goals while maintaining and enhancing the MSOE brand through detailed project management and communication expertise. This position works collaboratively with key university stakeholders to develop creative, results-oriented marketing campaigns to support MSOE's strategic priorities, build the institutional brand and help increase engagement from key constituent groups (including alumni, parents and families, donors, and corporate partners) that support the University's year-over-year fundraising growth and goals.

Under the leadership of the Senior Director of University Advancement Marketing & Engagement, the Assistant Director supports the planning, development, project management, and execution of communications to achieve university advancement, alumni engagement and donor relations goals.

Essential Job Functions
University Advancement Marketing Project Management
  • Proactively project manage an annual calendar of university advancement, alumni relations, and donor stewardship communications including print collateral, digital content, email, social media, and event communications.
  • Serve as a detail-oriented project manager, coordinating timelines, reviews, approvals, and execution with internal stakeholders and external vendors to develop high quality, engaging, results-oriented communications.
  • Ensure a strong, consistent, and cohesive brand identity and voice across all advancement and stewardship communications.
  • Serve as project lead for development, content creation, routing for review, and execution of the monthly Alumni E-newsletter.
  • Plan, manage, and execute content for Alumni-focused social media channels (e.g., Facebook and Instagram).
  • Partner closely with the Marketing Communications team as project liaison to ensure alignment with institutional brand standards and messaging priorities.
  • Plan, manage and execute content posts across the Alumni Facebook and Instagram social media channels.
University Advancement Content Creation
  • Provide writing and editing support for university advancement marketing campaigns, donor stewardship communications, newsletters, impact stories, and alumni success stories that positively position and promote the university and its mission to key constituent groups.
  • Provide expertise in design and development of marketing collateral for the Office of University Advancement within the MSOE brand framework. Multimedia skills in graphic design, photography and social media.
  • Write and edit content for the monthly Alumni E-newsletter.
  • Assist with the creation of stewardship communications, including donor messaging, invitations, and event-related materials that recognize and celebrate philanthropic support.
  • Gather and coordinate stories, photography, and student profile information for annual stewardship communications, including scholarship and endowment impact reports.
  • Assist in the creation of specialized donor and stewardship marketing materials, such as seasonal stewardship pieces (e.g., pet calendar, Thanksgiving postcards, holiday cards), themed videos (e.g., St. Patrick's Day stewardship video), and other targeted donor communications. For key projects this will include managing from start to finish in consultation with the Senior Director of University Advancement Marketing & Engagement.
  • Support the creation of donor acknowledgement and recognition materials, including student thank-you videos for Giving Day, donor birthday recognition, and other engagement touchpoints.
  • Support editorial content development for Impact stories and Alumni Class Notes for Dimensions magazine.
  • Provide expertise in the design and production of advancement marketing collateral within the MSOE brand framework, leveraging skills in graphic design, photography, and multimedia content.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in and provide support for University Advancement events and activities, which may include weekend or evening hours on occasion.
  • Communicate with internal and external audiences and vendors, providing feedback and input in a timely manner.
  • Be able to conduct a professional presentation.
  • Maintain an understanding of stated university overarching goals and objectives.
  • Model MSOE's mission, vision and values and conduct themselves with behavior that models the MSOE Mindset.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or related area of study.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional communications experience is required.
  • Higher education and/or nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite; InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience designing for web, digital or interactive platforms is a plus.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Requires attention to detail, strong organizational competence, and the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and professionally respond to variations in schedules and plans. Must be self-directed with strong problem-solving skills including the ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas and meet challenges with resourcefulness.
  • Possess or develop an understanding of university advancement, philanthropy, alumni relations and the unique considerations, language and motivations of these important target audiences while maintaining a consistent voice.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus.
  • Ascending and descending of stairs (building that does not contain an elevator).
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
