For applicants at the level of Associate Professor, preference will be given to those who have recently been tenured and are not currently under consideration for promotion to full professor. Applications are welcome from scholars who are dedicated to the studies that may include different countries and cultures in the region of East Asian Buddhist studies, but whose research complements the Department's existing strengths in Buddhist studies. Our curriculum centers on the acquisition of the modern and classical forms of the languages, the informed and engaged reading of a wide variety of East Asian texts in their historical and cultural contexts, and the development of effective writing skills and critical thinking.
