Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Product Owner to support our Huntsville, AL location.

PeopleTec is hiring a Product Owner to lead the development of the hybrid, multi-cloud, multi-network infrastructure and runtime platform. Working in alignment with the customer, this role holds the product vision, owns the backlog and its priorities, sets scope boundaries, and defines the criteria that mark each phase complete. You build the infrastructure roadmap from the team's epics, features, and user stories and supply it to the Program Manager for integration into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). As one of the program's primary customer-facing roles, you carry the conversation about what platform users need.

Duties:

Define, communicate, and own end to end the product vision for the infrastructure platform: multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructure, networking, storage, and shared runtime services.
  • Own the infrastructure backlog: create and prioritize it for value and ROI, write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, validate backlog readiness, and refine it continuously from feedback.
  • Build the product roadmap from epics, features, and user stories; supply the roadmap and delivery dates to the Program Manager for integration into the IMS; contribute the product line vision and objectives that inform program-level objectives.
  • Establish scope boundaries, assumptions, and phase entry and exit criteria; manage scope changes and tradeoffs.
  • Define milestones, deliverables, and entry/exit criteria in partnership with the Technical Lead.
  • Produce the content of contract deliverables and confirm it is ready for submission; hand off to the Deputy PM for completion tracking and delivery.
  • Present prioritized items and work with the scrum team to define the Sprint Goal; manage scope changes within the sprint; facilitate Backlog Refinement; present the increment at Sprint Review and take in feedback.
  • Lead product-level customer engagement and stakeholder communications; serve as liaison between stakeholders, the product and delivery teams that consume the platform, and the infrastructure engineers.
  • Engage stakeholders to validate priorities and surface emerging needs; gather customer feedback each sprint and adapt the backlog accordingly.
  • Monitor progress toward product goals and mitigate product risk proactively; accept or reject completed work against acceptance criteria; be available daily to the team for questions and clarification.
  • Plan release cadence and content, including coordinated upgrade and change windows for consuming teams, and collect user feedback after each release.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5-8+ years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or equivalent delivery role on an infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering team.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a product vision, backlog, and roadmap, and driving Agile delivery (Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review) with engineering teams.
  • Experience defining scope, milestones, and acceptance criteria, and supplying roadmaps and delivery dates to a program-level schedule.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud), Kubernetes and containers, and enterprise networking sufficient to write acceptance criteria and make informed prioritization, scope, and acceptance decisions.
  • Strong customer-facing, stakeholder engagement, written communication, and decision-making skills, including making and explaining tradeoff decisions.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (additional experience may substitute).

Desired Skills:

  • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe POPM, or equivalent.
  • Cloud or Kubernetes certification (e.g., AWS or Azure cloud certification, CKA, or KCNA).
  • DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II-compliant certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
  • Experience as a Product Owner on a DoD or federal infrastructure, cloud, or platform modernization program, including IMS input and contract deliverable development.
  • Familiarity with DoD platform practices such as the DevSecOps Reference Design, Platform One, IL4/IL5 environments, or cross-domain solutions.
  • Background in site reliability engineering, systems or network engineering, or infrastructure operations.
