Scope of Position The Radiation Therapist functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Medical Center. The primary purpose of the Staff Radiation Therapist is to perform radiation therapy and imaging procedures involving the application of X-rays and radioactive substances to patients for simulation and treatment for malignancies and pain. The Staff Radiation Therapist is responsible for the accurate delivery of prescribed planned courses of radiation therapy to patients in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Staff Radiation Therapist performs quality assessment activities, education, training, and oversight to radiation therapy students as directed by the Radiation Therapy Manager Position Summary The Radiation Therapist performs radiation therapy and imaging procedures involving the application of X-rays and radioactive substances to patients for simulation and treatment for malignancies and pain. Responsible for the accurate delivery of prescribed planned course of Radiation Therapy to patients in the Division of Radiation Oncology. Assist in treatment planning and maintenance of prescribed standards. Reinforces advice and monitors patients for unusual reactions and events. Observes Radiation Safety measures for patients and personnel and assist in student teaching and supervision. In addition, the position provides patient education and performs quality assessment activities for the division, under the direction of the Imaging Manager. Minimum Qualifications 2-Year College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered or board eligible by the A.R.R.T. in Radiation Therapy Technology.
