Essential Job Duties |
We are seeking a highly skilled
HVAC Mechanic to join our dynamic Facilities team. In this role, you will maintain, repair, and operate heating, cooling, steam/hot water boilers, and boiler auxiliary equipment. This position also involves performing electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance within our service zone. You will maintain a safe, organized work environment while performing physically active tasks, including lifting up to 60 pounds and working with complex equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, repair, and install plumbing systems and associated equipment, including pipe cutting, threading, assembling, and connecting valves; caulking joints; testing jobs; and installing gas, water, and sanitary fixtures with supports and hangers. Perform journey-level electrical work up to 600 VAC, including installation, maintenance, and repair of conduit, panels, breakers, switchgear, motors, lighting, and related equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair boilers, fan turbines, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines, expansion joints, strainers, pressure-reducing stations, piping, insulation, air compressors, and water treatment systems. Correct and repair control system faults; adjust or replace temperature controls, regulators, humidity controllers, sensors, and pneumatic control valves; perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment per manufacturer instructions.- Required to participate in the quarterly on-call program, carrying a pager for one week at a time. This occurs every ten to fourteen weeks

Other Responsibilities |
- This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s).
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with pneumatic and DOC-type control systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and the public, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs occasionally.
- Experience in HVAC trades, including plumbing, electrical, and boiler systems.
CFC Universal Certification is preferred.
