About Us
Maersk Oil Trading (MOT) serves as the sourcing arm of Maersk, handling the supply, storage, purchase, and delivery of fuel for our vessels. In 2024, we managed over 12 million metric tons of fuel, with Maersk as our primary customer (80%). Fuel is one of the largest operating expenses for Maersk's fleet, and MOT focuses on optimizing costs through blending, tolling, and barging.

We are a team of passionate industry professionals, traders, and technical experts, working as part of Maersk Energy Markets and the broader Maersk Energy Transition team. Together, we are 150 employees across key locations including New York, Singapore, Mumbai, Geneva, and Copenhagen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trade physical cargoes (FOB, DAP, CIF) of Low Sulphur, High Sulphur fuels, biofuels, methanol, and LNG in the Americas, with a focus on the U.S. market.
  • Develop and execute hedging and proprietary trading strategies.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and customers.
  • Contribute to fuel blending programs and drive supply chain performance improvements.
  • Oversee contract management and administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with MOT teams in Europe and Asia to explore new business opportunities.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in physical oil trading, preferably fuel oil.
  • Strong knowledge of marine fuel oil blending and bunker operations.
  • Familiarity with biofuels, methanol, or LNG is a plus but not mandatory.
  • In-depth understanding of North and South American energy markets and their global dynamics.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented self-starter with experience in fast-paced, multicultural environments.
  • Related industry experience.
  • Analytical mindset with a 24/7 mentality and a drive to improve.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) with excellent interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: $150,000 - $230,000 USD*

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and 401k Match.

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
