Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Production Shop Supervisor, the Technician services aircraft landing gear components at the component and depot level through troubleshooting, diagnostic testing, disassembly, inspection, and parts replacement in accordance with approved maintenance manuals and technical data. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail. The Technician must be capable of performing both repetitive and non-routine tasks while adhering strictly to aviation repair manuals, engineering specifications, and regulatory requirements. Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Perform disassembly and reassembly of landing gear systems and subcomponents in accordance with manufacturer specifications and approved technical data.
  • Conduct functional testing, operational checks, and leak tests on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to verify serviceability.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges) to ensure compliance with engineering tolerances.
  • Apply torque values to fasteners using calibrated torque wrenches and ensure proper installation of safety wiring, cotter pins, and locking devices.
  • Perform bushing and bearing removal/installation, including press operations and fit verification.
  • Prepare components for surface treatment processes such as cleaning, stripping, coating, or plating.
  • Ensure all work is performed and documented in accordance with FAA regulations (Part 43/145, if applicable), Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and company procedures.
  • Maintain calibrated tools and test equipment; report damaged or out-of-calibration equipment.
  • Adhere to FOD control, 5S standards, and safety requirements within the production/repair facility.
  • Communicate technical discrepancies and repair status effectively with supervisors, inspectors, and team members.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company housekeeping standards and safety regulations.
  • Preforms other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience: 12 months mechanical experience or graduation from industrial arts trade school program.
